Garo / The Wooden Mortared Kingdom / Japanese Manga Alternative Comics Comix

Garo: The Wooden Mortared Kingdom is a massive hardcover comic anthology that includes selections from the first twenty years of Garo magazine. Garo was an alternative comics magazine in Japan which published a wide variety of comic artists (Gekiga). It has over 1000 pages of manga art. 

The text is in Japanese. Some of the artists included are Suehiro Maruo, Hideshi Hino, Yoshiharu Tsuge, Sanpei Shirato, Ryoichi Ikegami, Yoshikazu Ebisu, and Shigeru Mizuki. It includes a small pamphlet/booklet (in Japanese).

The book is in good condition, but it does show its age. There is wear on the slipcover, especially around the edges and corners. The pages are slightly yellowed and there is some staining on the book's edge (see picture). The binding is mostly solid, but towards the center of the book there are a few pages that are starting to come a little loose from the binding (the book is very thick, so my guess is this happened when someone opened it too wide).
